SF Mayor To Veto Ban On Happy Meals

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 4:42 PM EST) -- San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom plans to veto a bill that would ban the sale of Happy Meals and similar toy-based offerings unless they contain only healthy foods, but city legislators are poised to overrule his opposition.

On Tuesday, San Francisco's Board of Supervisors passed the legislation, which sponsors said would combat childhood obesity, in an 8-3 vote — just enough to survive Newsom's promised veto.
