Alcoholic Energy Drinks To Become Scarce In NY

Law360, New York (November 15, 2010, 1:39 PM EST) -- Phusion Products has agreed to cease shipping to New York state liquor distributors its controversial caffeine-infused alcoholic beverage Four Loko, pending an investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration into safety concerns about so-called alcopops.

Phusion will instead be selling only noncaffeinated versions of its products in the state, though it reserves the right to resume sales of caffeinated alcohol products in New York should the FDA determine that they are safe. The agency expects to complete its review in the coming months.
