Ex-Ford Worker Gets 6 Years For Trade Secrets Theft

Law360, New York (April 12, 2011, 5:19 PM EDT) -- Former Ford Motor Co. product engineer Xiang Dong Yu was sentenced to nearly six years in prison on Tuesday in Michigan for stealing Ford trade secrets worth as much as $100 million and taking them to China.

Judge Gerald Rosen of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan handed down the 70-month jail term, according to U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan Barbara L. McQuade.

Yu was also ordered to pay a $12,500 fine as a result of having pled guilty...
