Senate Moves To Prohibit Asian Carp Imports

Law360, New York (November 18, 2010, 3:08 PM EST) -- The U.S. Senate has approved legislation that would add an invasive Asian carp species that has ferociously spread across most of the Mississippi River watershed to a list of injurious wildlife that are prohibited from being imported into the United States.

The bill, known as the Asian Carp Prevention and Control Act, passed Wednesday by unanimous consent. A companion bill is currently pending in a House Judiciary subcommittee.
