Fla. Drivers Win Class Certification In Privacy Case

Law360, New York (November 18, 2010, 6:39 PM EST) -- A federal judge has certified a class of drivers accusing a group of current and former employees of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles of breaking the law by disclosing personal information from Florida's driver's license database to a company called Shadowsoft Inc.

Judge Robert Hinkle of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida signed off on an order Wednesday granting named plaintiff Michael Welch's bid for class certification.
