CME Chief Says DoJ Will Sign Off On Merger

Law360, New York (March 22, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Chicago Mercantile Exchange Holdings Inc.’s chief executive said Thursday that he is confident the U.S. Department of Justice will sign off on CME’s merger proposal with CBOT Holdings, Inc. despite recent reports that regulators may be gearing up to block the impending deal to create the world’s largest derivatives exchange.

The agency has contacted customers of the exchanges with requests for information, Craig Donohue, CME’s chief executive officer, said during a conference call, according to a report published by Crain’s Chicago Business.
