MSHA Targets 13 Mines Over Repeat Safety Violations

Law360, New York (November 22, 2010, 5:14 PM EST) -- The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration has warned 13 mines over repeated safety and health violations, forcing the operators to cut the number of violations at their mines under the agency's new screening standards.

The U.S. Department of Labor agency sent letters to the mine operators Friday informing them that they had shown a possible pattern of violations of mandatory federal health or safety standards.
