Jones Day Reps Attachmate In $2.2B Novell Buy

Law360, New York (November 22, 2010, 2:14 PM EST) -- Attachmate Corp. on Monday announced plans to shell out $2.2 billion to acquire Novell Inc., a deal that includes the sale of certain intellectual property assets to a group of technology companies led by Microsoft Corp. for $450 million.

The transaction, which values Novell at $6.10 per share, is currently expected to close in the first quarter of 2011, according to Attachmate, which is owned by an investment group led by Francisco Partners, Golden Gate Capital and Thoma Bravo.
