Total SA CEO Banned From Meeting Iranian Officials

Law360, New York (March 23, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge on Friday banned Total SA’s CEO, Christophe de Margerie, from meeting former Iranian president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and his son after cross-examination of another executive revealed connections between the two parties.

The French oil company confirmed on Wednesday that three of its employees, including Margerie, are being questioned with regards to the ongoing French judicial inquiry into the company’s activities at the South Pars gas field in Iran since December 2006.
