Pfizer Fills Shelves With Generic Norvasc

Law360, New York (March 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Reacting swiftly to news Mylan Laboratories has launched a cheap version of its blockbuster drug Norvasc, Pfizer has released its own authorized generic and warned of continuing legal action.

The damage control was announced Friday in direct response to Mylan’s release of three strengths of amlodipine besylate tablets, just a day after a court ruled the Norvasc patents invalid.

Pfizer spokesman Bryant Haskins said Monday the drug maker was making the generic product available immediately through its subsidiary Greenstone.
