US Backs $4M Gowanus Deal In Chemtura Ch. 11

Law360, New York (December 3, 2010, 8:55 PM EST) -- The U.S. government filed a motion in support of Chemtura Corp.’s proposed $3.9 million settlement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency over the company’s cleanup obligations at the notorious Gowanus Canal Superfund site in Brooklyn, N.Y.

The settlement will give the U.S. $3.9 million in allowed environmental claims against the company, according to a memorandum of law filed in the U.S. Bankrupcty Court for the Southern District of New York.
