Mayo Sues BP To Collect Oil, Gas Royalties

Law360, New York (December 3, 2010, 2:47 PM EST) -- The Mayo Clinic's foundation has sued BP PLC subsidiaries for wrongly deducting production and other costs from oil and gas royalties on properties in the Texas panhandle and for failing to properly develop the properties.

The Minnesota-based health care provider and research nonprofit alleges that BP American Production Co. and BP Co. North America Inc. underpaid royalties by "substantially in excess of $75,000," in a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas on behalf of Mayo by John Mozola...
