Stanford Still Wants Out Of Prison As Trial Nears

Law360, New York (December 7, 2010, 7:01 PM EST) -- Texas financier Robert Allen Stanford continues to lobby for a release from prison, claiming that the strains of incarceration prevent him from properly fighting allegations that he operated an $8 billion Ponzi scheme.

On Monday, Stanford urged Judge David Hittner of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas to release him from prison, where he has been for 18 months, so that he can prepare for the January trial over his alleged fraud.
