Rigases Get $600,000 For Defense Fund

Law360, New York (March 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal bankruptcy judge has approved the advancement of $600,000 to the Rigas family, the disgraced founders of Adelphia Communications Corp., for legal costs that have accrued over its role in the company’s collapse.

Judge Robert E. Gerber granted the Rigas’ request on Monday despite objections from other top former Adelphia executives. According to Dow Jones, former CEO John J. Rigas and his sons have already requested over $9 million for their defense.
