Subpoena Stands In Chevron Ecuador Case

Law360, New York (December 8, 2010, 7:11 PM EST) -- A federal judge has largely refused to quash a subpoena issued for a former Chevron Corp. contractor at the request of Ecuador as part of a multibillion-dollar suit over oil pollution in the Amazon rain forest.

In a ruling issued Dec. 1 and made public Tuesday, Magistrate Judge Edward M. Chen of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that Diego Borja had failed to show the court was not authorized to issue a subpoena at the request of a sovereign nation....
