EU Puts Cement Makers In Cartel Crosshairs

Law360, New York (December 10, 2010, 2:23 PM EST) -- The European Commission opened a formal investigation Friday into possible cement price-fixing across Europe by eight companies, including Mexico's Cemex SAB de CV, Germany's HeidelbergCement AG, Switzerland's Holcim Ltd. and others.

The commission said it was looking into possible import/export restrictions, market sharing and price coordination in the cement and related markets in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
