The UK's Fast Lane For IP Enforcement

Law360, New York (December 20, 2010, 11:51 AM EST) -- The U.K. has established a new court to resolve patent, trademark and copyright cases quickly and cheaply in a streamlined process. The new Intellectual Property County Court in London opened for business in October 2010 with new procedures. Although designed for cases valued at less than £500,000, the court is available if an IP owner is willing to limit its damages to that amount: The real hammer for an IP owner is the injunction — and in Europe the injunction is still routine.
