Calif. Pet Retailers Agree To New Warning Label

Law360, New York (December 20, 2010, 5:43 PM EST) -- A slew of pet product manufacturers and retailers, including PetSmart Inc. and Petco Animal Supplies Inc., has agreed to put warning labels on flea and tick collars sold in California that contain propoxur, a potential carcinogen, as part of a settlement in a lawsuit brought by an environmental group.

Sixteen companies that make or sell pet products containing the chemical reached a settlement with the Natural Resources Defense Council, according to a judgment filed in the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda on Dec. 10 but announced by the NRDC on Thursday....
