NYC Settles Jewish Nurse's Bias Claims

Law360, New York (December 20, 2010, 1:46 PM EST) -- New York City has agreed to pay an Orthodox Jewish nurse $40,000 to settle allegations that a city hospital discriminated against her by failing to accommodate her observance of the Jewish Sabbath.

The New York City Commission on Human Rights signed off on the settlement Wednesday. Alisa Dolinsky filed a discrimination claim with the commission against New York City Health and Hospitals Corp. after a city hospital refused to hire her when she said she could not work on Saturdays, the Jewish Sabbath.
