Insurers Must Pay For Suit Over Tree Project: City

Law360, New York (December 20, 2010, 5:16 PM EST) -- The city of Warren, Mich., which was sued by residents in a class action alleging that a tree-planting ordinance caused widespread property damage, has dragged several new insurers into a battle over coverage for the underlying dispute.

Warren, Michigan's third largest city and the largest suburb in the Detroit metro area, filed its complaint Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Warren claims the insurers must pay defense costs and cover any damages against the city in the class action....
