E.U. Threatens To Ground Ryanair Merger

Law360, New York (March 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The European Commission has reportedly presented Ryanair Holdings PLC with a list of antitrust concerns regarding its proposed takeover of rival low-fare Irish airline Aer Lingus Group PLC.

In a 265-page document that was leaked to Bloomberg News, the E.U. regulatory agency said the proposed merger would impede competition on routes to and from Dublin.

Ryanair responded Friday by saying the findings were politically motivated.
