Judge OK's Bid-Rigging Suit Against Liberty Mutual

Law360 (March 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In a blow to Liberty Mutual, a New York state judge has denied the insurer’s motion to dismiss a case brought by former New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer over alleged bidding-rigging.

In a decision issued earlier this week, New York Supreme Court Judge Bernard Fried ruled that Spitzer’s office has jurisdiction over nine subsidiaries that were named in the suit and do business in New York, but not over their Boston-based parent.

Liberty Mutual has 20 days to respond to the suit, Fried wrote....
