Chinese Union Lambasts Fast-Food Giants’ Wages

Law360, New York (April 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- China’s top trade union federation lashed out Monday at global fast-food chains in the wake of allegations in the province of Guangdong that the companies pay their part-time workers up to 40% less than the local minimum wage, which is about $1 an hour.

A senior official of the All China Federation of Trade Unions said Monday that no company should be allowed to have in-house rules that violate China’s labor laws, the China Daily reported.
