GSK Loses Bid To Bar Testimony On Avandia Risks

Law360, New York (January 5, 2011, 1:54 PM EST) -- GlaxoSmithKline PLC has lost its bid to block three doctors from testifying about the alleged health risks of Avandia in a multidistrict litigation alleging the company concealed the diabetes medication's potential to cause heart attack and stroke in some patients.

Judge Cynthia M. Rufe of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania denied GSK's motion to exclude three expert witnesses put forth by the plaintiffs' steering committee on Tuesday, following a Daubert hearing regarding the admissibility of their testimony.
