Kraft Says Indian Food Maker Ripped Off Oreo Cookie

Law360 (January 5, 2011, 6:09 PM EST) -- A Kraft Foods Global Inc. unit has accused Indian food products manufacturer Britannia Industries Ltd. of making a copycat version of its trademarked Oreo cookie.

Kraft Foods Global Brands LLC filed a complaint in the High Court of Delhi on Tuesday, alleging that so-called TREAT-O cookies manufactured by the Calcutta-based Britannia infringe trademarks and copyrights covering the best selling cookie.

Kraft claims the TREAT-O biscuit is a cookie-cutter version of Oreo packaging and trade dress.
