Report Fingers BP, Halliburton, Transocean For Oil Spill

Law360 (January 6, 2011, 6:23 PM EST) -- Systemic failures on the part of BP PLC, Halliburton Co. and Transocean Ltd. led to the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, a U.S. presidential panel found in a final report released Thursday.

Engineering and strategic missteps that led to the largest oil spill in U.S. history were not rogue actions but indicative of institutional problems within the oil industry, according to a chapter from a National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling report.
