Intel To Alter $8B McAfee Deal Over EU Concerns

Law360, New York (January 6, 2011, 12:48 PM EST) -- Intel Corp. has offered to make changes to its $7.7 billion acquisition of computer security software maker McAfee Inc. to make the deal more palatable for European antitrust regulators.

The European Commission said Wednesday that the chip maker had offered competition commitments and extended the deadline for its review of the transaction to Jan. 26.

Both Intel and the regulator declined to provide details about the proposal or the watchdog's concerns about the deal.
