WexTrust Ponzi Defendant Asks To Ditch Attys

Law360, New York (January 10, 2011, 4:48 PM EST) -- Former WexTrust Capital LLC executive Joseph Shereshevsky demanded Monday that a federal judge allow him to represent himself in an upcoming trial, accusing his court-appointed lawyers of failing to handle his case appropriately.

Judge Denny Chin struggled during a hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to ascertain whether Shereshevsky, who refused to answer questions from the judge with a “yes” or “no,” met criteria for proceeding as a pro se defendant in a trial scheduled to begin Feb. 22....
