Bayer Strikes Deal With 4 Farmers In Rice MDL

Law360, New York (January 12, 2011, 9:24 PM EST) -- Bayer CropScience AG has agreed to pay $873,000 to four Mississippi rice farmers to resolve claims that the company’s genetically modified rice contaminated their crops, part of the sprawling multidistrict litigation over the issue.

With the suit set to go to trial Jan. 18, the Germany-based company reached a deal with Byrd Farms Partnership, Rizzo Farms Joint Venture, Peter Dulaney Farms and Pongetti Farms Partnership that resolves their allegations in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, which is overseeing the MDL, the...
