US Wants Stanford Evaluated In Government Facility

Law360 (January 13, 2011, 3:56 PM EST) -- U.S. prosecutors have asked a federal judge to send alleged Ponzi schemer Robert Allen Stanford to a government facility for a psychiatric evaluation after his trial was delayed because of mental incompetence.

U.S. attorneys sent Judge David Hittner in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas a proposed order Wednesday that would send Stanford, accused of running a $7 billion fraud, to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility for up to 30 days, with a potential 15 days tacked on.
