Abbott Scores $16M Win In Suit Over Generic Tarka

Law360, New York (January 14, 2011, 7:07 PM EST) -- A federal jury has awarded Abbott Laboratories $16 million in a suit against Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. over a generic version of Tarka, finding that the defendant infringed a patent covering the blood pressure drug.

The jury handed down its verdict in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey on Friday, confirming the validity of the Sanofi Deutschland GmbH-owned and Abbott-licensed U.S. Patent Number 5,721,244.

"We are pleased that the jury agreed our patent was valid and infringed," Abbott said in a company statement....
