Italy Closes Google News Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (January 18, 2011, 12:15 PM EST) -- Google Inc. has agreed to give publishers more control over their content on its Italian news aggregation service, bringing an end to an antitrust investigation into whether the Internet giant treated those that opted out of Google News unfairly.

Italy's antitrust watchdog, the Autorita Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, said Monday that it had accepted Google's antitrust commitments, which are designed to allow newspaper publishers to pull their content from Google News without taking a hit to their ranking on Google's main search site....
