Spain Targets Vodafone, Others Over Text Rates

Law360 (January 18, 2011, 3:25 PM EST) -- Spanish regulators announced Tuesday an investigation into potential price inflation by the cell phone divisions of Vodafone Group PLC, Telefonica SA and France Telecom SA's Orange related to text messaging charges.

Spain's National Competition Commission, also known by its Spanish initials CNC, said Telefonica Moviles de Espana SAU, Vodafone Espana SAU and France Telecom Espana SA could be abusing their dominant market position through overcharging on wholesale text message rates.
