Ex-Lancer Exec Can't Shake $200M Fraud Case

Law360, New York (January 18, 2011, 5:11 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Tuesday denied two bids by former Lancer Group fund manager Martin Garvey to throw out an indictment linking him to a $200 million investment scam, saying his arguments for dismissal were inadequate.

Judge Adalberto Jordan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida issued a pair of orders rejecting Garvey’s December motions to dismiss, stifling the possibility that the court would drop the case ahead of trial, which is set to begin at the end of the month....
