Court Bats Down Contract Dispute Against Law Firm

Law360, New York (April 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An appeals court has upheld that law firm Danna McKitrick PC cannot be sued for breaching its immigration services contract with former clients that are now represented by another law firm.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit affirmed a lower court’s ruling that Immigration Law Group was equitably estopped from pursuing its claims that St. Louis, Mo.-based Danna violated its contract by refusing to transfer unearned retainer fees to ILG as requested by Danna’s former clients.
