Avis Tries To Shake Antitrust Suit Over $1.5B Tie-Up

Law360, New York (January 24, 2011, 2:23 PM EST) -- Car rental company Avis Budget Group Inc. has asked a federal judge to dismiss an antitrust suit over its proposed $1.52 billion acquisition of rival Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc., saying the suit is not yet ripe.

Since the deal could still fall through, an antitrust suit is far too premature, Avis said in a motion filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.
