Toyota Recalls 1.7M Vehicles Over Fuel Pipes, Valves

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 8:04 PM EST) -- Toyota Motor Corp. announced Wednesday it is recalling nearly 1.7 million vehicles worldwide because of safety issues with defective fuel pipes, high-pressure fuel pump check valves and fuel pressure sensors.

The car manufacturer has recalled 245,000 Lexus vehicles in the U.S. over fuel pressure sensors that may loosen over time and cause a gas leak.

Toyota has also recalled 1.34 million vehicles in Japan, the U.K., Germany, Russia and New Zealand, because they contain fuel pipes that could crack and cause a fuel leak, Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons said....
