France Telecom, Vivendi Get €20M In Fines Reversed

Law360, New York (January 28, 2011, 5:04 PM EST) -- A French appeals court has reportedly struck down €20 million ($27 million) in fines imposed by France’s competition watchdog against France Telecom SA and Vivendi SA’s SFR subsidiary for anti-competitive pricing in the cell phone industry.

The Paris Court of Appeals on Thursday overturned a fine of €18 million against France Telecom and a fine of €2 million against SFR, concluding that the regulator failed to show that the companies blocked competitors from entering the market, according to French publication Les Echos.
