DOD To Pay $2M For Alaska PCB Cleanup

Law360, New York (January 31, 2011, 3:56 PM EST) -- The U.S. government has reached a settlement with the city of Unalaska, Alaska, in a suit over polychlorinated biphenyl contamination at a former U.S. Department of Defense military base, reportedly agreeing to put $2 million toward the cleanup.

On Friday, the city and the DOD asked Judge Timothy Burgess of the U.S. District Court for the Federal District of Alaska to stay the action while the parties finalize the settlement over the cleanup at the site of a new municipal power plant.
