Feds Call Dismissal Bid By Madoff Aides 'Frivolous'

Law360, New York (January 31, 2011, 2:29 PM EST) -- Prosecutors have responded harshly to three former employees of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC, deriding their motion to dismiss the indictment against them as "especially frivolous" and denying the government had interfered with their right to counsel.

Prosecutors filed a 50-page memorandum Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, arguing the government's actions did not not violate the Fifth and Sixth Amendment rights of defendants Daniel Bonventre, Joann Crupi and Annette Bongiorno.
