Guggenheim Imposters Charged For Investment Scam

Law360, New York (January 31, 2011, 5:54 PM EST) -- Federal prosecutors said Monday they had charged three individuals in connection with a fraudulent investment scheme that involved soliciting money and promoting bogus investment opportunities by pretending to be members of the prominent Guggenheim family.

Catarina Pietra Toumei, David Birnbaum and Vladimir Zuravel were named as defendants in a criminal complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, according to Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
