11th Circ. Denies SunTrust Appeal Over Attys' Fees

Law360, New York (February 1, 2011, 8:25 PM EST) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Tuesday denied efforts by SunTrust Banks Inc. to claw back attorneys’ fees it owes a former chief credit officer who sued the bank for defamation, saying the bank’s own bylaws require it to pay up.

The logic in Northern District of Georgia Judge Richard W. Story’s order requiring SunTrust to cover its former chief credit officer’s legal fees was “not erroneous at all,” according to Tuesday’s ruling by a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit.
