UK Antitrust Regulators To Probe E-Book Pricing

Law360, New York (February 1, 2011, 7:28 PM EST) -- Regulators in the United Kingdom have announced an antitrust probe into pricing practices for digital books, following the launch of similar investigations in the U.S.

The U.K.'s Office of Fair Trading has begun looking into whether arrangements between book publishers and online retailers breach competition rules after receiving "a significant number of complaints," the agency said in a statement Tuesday.

The OFT did not elaborate on the source or quantity of complaints, and a representative for the regulator could not be reached Tuesday evening.
