Workers Seek Class Cert. In Human Trafficking Suit

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 3:17 PM EST) -- Indian workers allegedly lured to the U.S. by false promises of permanent residency and forced into work camps by Signal International Inc. and recruiters are seeking class certification, in what could be the largest human trafficking case in U.S. history.

The plaintiffs' motion, filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, calls the treatment of the workers by Signal and its recruiters "an affront to basic human dignity and human rights" and "a classwide affront arising out of a classwide deception."...
