Senate Rejects Health Care Reform Repeal

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 6:36 PM EST) -- Senate Democrats on Wednesday defeated legislation to repeal the health care reform law enacted in 2010, while calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to step in quickly and give its final answer on whether the sweeping new law passes constitutional muster.

Senators voted 47 to 51 on the amendment, falling short of the 60 votes needed to attach the legislative repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act to a Federal Aviation Administration authorization bill being debated on the Senate floor.
