Track Federations Sued For Anti-Competitive Conduct

Law360, New York (April 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Spira Footwear Inc. has sued two of the world’s most powerful track-and-field governing bodies, arguing that a ban placed on its running shoes is anti-competitive.

In a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, Spira alleged that the International Amateur Athletic Federation and the United States Association of Track and Field prevented it from gaining market acceptance by banning its patented spring technology in competitive races.
