Miss. Class Action Over Health Care Reform Law Nixed

Law360 (February 4, 2011, 7:17 PM EST) -- A federal judge in Mississippi has tossed a putative class action challenging the constitutionality of the federal health care law for now, but said he would allow the plaintiffs to amend their claims.

Judge Keith Starrett of the the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi ruled Thursday that a group of uninsured Mississippi residents and the state's Republican lieutenant governor, Phil Bryant, had failed to show they had standing to bring their challenge to the statute.
