US Taps 4 Coastal Areas For Offshore Wind Energy

Law360, New York (February 7, 2011, 1:48 PM EST) -- The Obama administration on Monday identified four high-priority areas off the mid-Atlantic coast that could be leased for wind energy by the end of 2011, and also announced $50.5 million in research and development funding for the alternative energy.

The high-priority areas — including 122 square nautical miles off the coast of Delaware, 207 off the coast of Maryland, 417 off the coast of New Jersey and 165 off the coast of Virginia — will receive early environmental reviews, officials said at a press conference....
