GE, Firefighter Estate Settle In Chopper Crash Suit

Law360, New York (February 7, 2011, 8:40 PM EST) -- General Electric Co. has resolved claims over a firefighter's death in a 2008 helicopter crash in California, part of a multidistrict litigation over alleged GE engine defects.

According to a motion filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, GE and Verna Wilson, the estate representative for firefighter Shawn Blazer, settled the suit, which sought to hold GE liable for the August 2008 Sikorsky S-61 crash that killed Blazer and eight others.
