Bouchard To Pay $4M Over NY Gas Spill

By Richard Vanderford (February 8, 2011, 6:38 PM EST) -- Shipper Bouchard Transportation Co. Inc. has agreed to pay $4 million to settle a Clean Water Act lawsuit over 50,000 barrels of gasoline it allegedly spilled near Staten Island, N.Y.

The settlement, announced Tuesday and still subject to approval by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, ends a suit brought by the U.S. Coast Guard over a spill that occurred during a fatal barge fire in the Arthur Kill waterway.
